9 year old Pit Bull Terrier

Today’s case is a 9-year-old male neutered Pit Bull Terrier with vomting, lethargy, and anorexia. What is your radiographic diagnosis?

Findings

A large mass is present in the ventral abdomen caudal to the stomach, and superimposed on the spleen on the ventrodorsal projection. The liver is normal in size. No abnormalities are noted in the gastrointestinal or urinary tracts. The peritoneal detail is mildly decreased in the ventral abdomen.

Differential Diagnosis

  • Splenic mass – Ddx hemangiosarcoma, hematoma
  • Small peritoneal effusion – hemorrhage, transudate, exudate

Diagnosis

  • A splenic mass and hemoabdomen were diagnosed on abdominal ultrasound.
  • No further diagnostics were performed.

    there is also mass effect and right dorso-lateral deviation of the intestine
