Today’s case is a 2 year old female Chihuahua that was hit by a car. What is your diagnosis?
Findings
There is silhouetting with the caudal cardiac silhouette and poor visibility of the diaphgragm. There is increased soft-tissue and gas opacity in the pleural space, as well as pleural effusion. Small intesetinal loops can be traced along the right thoracic wall from the abdomen into the thoracic cavity. The right 6th rib is fractured.
Diagnosis
- Traumatic rupture of the right diaphragm with herniation and pleural effusion
- Right 6th rib fracture
- The diaphgragmatic tear was surgically repaired after replacing the intestines and liver into the abdominal cavity.
