This week’s case is a 10-year-old male neutered Bernese mountain dog with anorexia and sudden weight loss. How would you describe these radiographs?
Findings
There is a soft tissue opacity mass in the left cranial lung lobe with a central bronchus.A second, smaller mass is present in the right 10th intercostal space on the ventrodorsal projection. There is interstitial to alveolar pattern in the ventral portion of the right middle lung lobe on the left lateral projection. The liver is marekdly enlarged and extends beyond the costal arch, and peritoneal detail is decreased.Diagnosis
Histiocytic sarcomaThe liver and spleen were diffusely abnormal with multiple masses. Masses were also discovered in the mid-abdomen and retroperitoneal space. Abdominal lymph nodes were enlarged. Histiocytic sarcoma was dianosed by fine needle aspirate of lymph node.
