Findings

Radiographs of the abdomen are available for review. There are metallic staples in the abdominal wall, and small regions of intra-abdominal free gas secondary to recent surgery. The stomach and small intestines are diffusely dilated, and contain various amounts of liquid and solidifying barium. The stomach is free of barium, and the colon contains a small amount with particles outlining the folds of the terminal rectum. The remainder of the abdominal organs appear normal.
