2 year old male neutered German Shepherd. Polyuria, polydipsia, and reluctance to jump on bed. What is your radiographic diagnosis?

Findings

On lateral survey radiographs of the spine, there are multiple intervertebral disc spaces affected by vertebral endplate lysis with surrounding sclerosis. The largest of these appear to be C3-4 and L1-2. Multiple additional thoracic and lumbar intervertebral disc spaces are affected.

  • Discospondylitis and pyelonephritis caused by disseminated Aspergillosis
  • An aortic thrombus was also discovered on abdominal ultrasound

German Shepherd dogs are predisposed to disseminated Aspergillosis.
